When we think of red shoes, images of stiletto heels in bright candy apple red may dance in your head. You know -- the ones that bring men to their knees and traffic to a grinding halt? Sure, these shoes are quite sexy but believe it or not, red shoes come in all different shades of red and dozens of different styles that can be just as sexy -- but in a subtle way. From flirty falun red flats to pretty persimmon pumps, there is a red shoe out there for every type of woman from A-Z.
Red shoe styles are just as varied as the many different shades of red. And much like the shades of red, some shoe styles may sound familiar while others may seem a bit obscure. But, whatever type of red shoe strikes your fancy, there truly is a “proper” name for it and the following list should cover a good number of unique styles. The types of shoe styles include: Ankle Strap, Ballerina, Clogs, Espadrilles, Flip Flops, French Heels, Kitten Heels, Mules, Platforms, Pumps, Sling-Backs, Sneakers, Stilettos, Wedge, and everyone’s favorite red shoe – the Peep Toe.
Within the different styles of red shoes, there are different types and designs. For example, the vast majority of stilettos are high, but these spike-heeled shoes can range from one inch high up to six inches or more. And in the case of sling-backs, they can come in a variety of different designs such as a round toe, square toe, pointed toe, chunky heel and more. Red shoes such as sneakers come in a variety of different styles ranging from walking, workout, and running to hiking and simply for fashion. Fashionable sneakers include brands like Converse All-Stars or “Chuck Taylors,” Baby Phat, DKNY, Onitsuka Tiger and Mini’s “Mini Clubman,” Puma, Adidas, KangaROOS, and more.
Most shoe designers experiment with a variety of colors in their collections and red is obviously no exception. The many different shades of red include: alizarin, amaranth, burgundy, cardinal, carmine, cerise, chestnut, coral, crimson, falun red, fire engine red, maroon, persimmon, rose, ruby, rust, sangria, scarlet, Venetian red, and vermilion. Dark pink, fuchsia, magenta, taupe, pink, red-violet, puce, and terra cotta also belong to the red family. So the next time you reach for a pair of “red shoes” in your closet -- ask yourself – is this really just a pair of red shoes?
